Hi, I’m Suzanne. I love art and architecture.
I’ve been making art since I can remember. As a child I loved drawing dogs and horses for my grandpa who was also an artist & drew architecture/landscape scenes in pen & ink (and was a big fan of the races!) I studied photography at university where I would push the boundaries of my chosen field by making scenes from paper to photography or by hand make photography books. Since then I’ve continued to make art through one form or another experimenting in creative outlets such as pottery or print making.
I love visiting new places and sharing my architectural finds with others. I can spend entire days walking around cities taking in the buildings and structures around me, stopping to photograph buildings, scenes and landscapes that catch my eye.
Living in the Welsh Marches (an area that borders the English & Welsh counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire & Powys) I’m surrounded and constantly inspired by the quintessentially British, traditional black and white villages, red brick buildings and oak framed houses. I live a few miles outside of Ludlow, a border town in Shropshire famous for its castle, over 500 listed buildings, food & art festivals and medieval fayre (to name but a few).
I’m inspired, not only by the buildings themselves, but by the homes and shops that inhabit them. There are so many different types of historical architecture across Britain and over the centuries families & independent businesses have adapted themselves to the ageing, creaking shapes of buildings that are hundreds of years old, squeezing themselves into the nooks and crannies of worn smooth stone & woodwork.
I create original, finely detailed drawings of quintessentially British architecture which I share with you in the form of framed originals, limited edition prints, gifts, prints & cards. I either work by drawing on location or I use my photography skills to capture the buildings I’m inspired by. I tend to outline my drawings in pencil. I’m meticulous & measure out the structure of the building before adding detail and shading with fine art pens. I also work digitally, using my iPad Pro, Apple Pencil and Adobe Fresco to paint scenes in pen and watercolour.
I believe in quality and sustainability:
-All my drawings & prints are made using high quality archival art paper, inks and pigments ensuring you have the finest quality product.
-Framed originals are signed by me & limited edition prints are signed & numbered, so you know that you have a wonderfully, unique piece of art.
-My frames and mounts are made by local, guild certified framers using sustainably sourced materials providing you with a beautiful, high end finish ready to hang in your home.
-Mounts, frames & paper are all acid free ensuring your artwork doesn’t yellow with age & can be passed down from generation to generation.
-All the packaging I use is either recyclable, biodegradable or both! Meaning you can enjoy your art with minimal environmental impact.
I also offer a commission service. If you’d like to gift yourself or someone you love with a beautiful & unique piece of art, celebrating your home or business please get in touch! I provide a consultative approach to understand your needs and a professional and timely service.
